Sangat Island Resort
Island At A Glance
Sangat Island Dive Resort is a beautiful resort situated along a private 300m stretch of pure white sand and surrounded by towering limestone cliffs, lush tropical forest and majestic coconut palms.
Sangat Island Dive Resort is located in Coron Bay, just an hour's flight from Manila. This small and friendly eco-resort offers a range of accommodation, from native-style Beachfront Cottages and Hilltop Chalets to a secluded family villa on its own private beach!
The waters around Coron Bay are steeped in World War II history and the resort offers easy access to around a dozen WWII wrecks. The diving here is superb, with exciting penetration dives into vast holds and engine rooms of Japanese gun boats, sub-chasers and cargo vessels, all sunk in September 1944 by the US Task Force.
Restaurants & Bars
Sangat Island Dive Resort has just one restaurant and bar, situated just a few yards from the beach and shaded by trees. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served buffet style and a mix of international and local cuisine is offered. Unlimited tea, coffee and drinking water is available throughout the day and in addition there is a small snack menu available for in-between bites.
Free wi-fi is available to guests in the restaurant.
Adjoined to the restaurant is the resort's bar serving a wide range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks, and there is a separate padded seating area around a pool table. The bar is open throughout the day and up until the last guest leaves.
There are a range of activities for guests to enjoy at Sangat. Watersports include waterskiing, windsurfing and kayaking and there are also jetskis available for hire. These can be hired in 30 minute sessions, or guests can embark on a guided 3 hour, 60 mile tour to some of the most spectacular islands in and around Coron Bay.
For those looking to keep in shape during their stay there is a small fitness studio available free to guests, with a range of free weights and weight training machines.
Sangat Resort is surrounded by a lush forest that is rich in wildlife, and monkeys, exotic birds and butterflies are regularly seen in the resort. For nature lovers wishing to discover more there are nature trails and guided trekking tours offered into the surrounding hills.
Island hopping trips and visits to local towns are also readily available.
The resort has a well-managed and well-stocked dive centre with up to date equipment for hire and Nitrox and technical diving is catered for.
A range of diver training is offered, from Open Water to Divemaster, as well as Nitrox and technical diving courses. Technical dive equipment includes a Nitrox membrane filling station, O2-clean 12ltr twin tanks, O2-clean 6ltr stage bottles, O2-clean regulators, dive harness with double first stages, stainless-backed technical wings, O2 booster pumps and soda sorb for re-breathers.
The dive centre has a fleet of five purpose built fibreglass dive boats, equipped with tank racks, boarding ladders and O2. The fast boats includes two 9.6m, 140hp tenders with room for up to 8 divers, and three 5.3m tenders for up to 4 divers. For large groups of divers wishing to dive together there is an additional 20m out-rigger, able to take up to 16 divers.
The waters and reefs around Sangat island have been protected marine parks since 2004 and there are many wonderful stretches of reef to enjoy, including Sangat’s own house reef. But the jewel in the crown here are the Japanese World War II wrecks that make this area famous and the resort has easy access to 11 superb wrecks.
Typically in depths between 25m – 40m the guided penetration dives into the holds and engine rooms of these WWII wrecks is an exhilarating experience.
