The Diving

Most of the diving takes place from the main vessel and the majority of dive sites have permanent moorings, so preparing for your dive is easy and relaxed. The aft deck is well planned with central gear station, camera preparation and washing areas and deck shower.
Access to the water from the dive deck is down four steps onto a low dive platform and a straightforward step-in entry. Nitrox is available, please ask our sales staff for prices. MV Febrina is a well-established liveaboard and her crew are extremely experienced with local dive guides giving a thorough briefing before each dive.
During July and August Febrina operates mid-year itineraries, diving Kimbe Bay, Fathers Reefs and Lolobau Island. Some of these itineraries travel from Walindi to Rabaul and return. January, February and March see Febrina exploring the southern coast of New Britain, based out of Rabaul. The waters of New Britain are home to prolific and diverse marine life - this is coral reef diving at its best! Indeed, a recent coral count of Kimbe Bay revealed an incredible 413 different species of hard coral; this is over half the world species in one bay, leading many to call Kimbe Bay "the coral capital of the world". Add to this over 900 species of fish, including of course a range of pelagics, and you have all the elements required for a superb diving holiday.

HMS Hermes, Sri Lanka - July 2012
"We had a great trip to the Hermes, the diving was fantastic"
We all had a great trip and the diving on HMS Hermes was fantastic. The vis was great in the morning at 30 meters +, it dropped a bit in the afternoon but was still 15 to 20 meters. The current was hardly anything in the morning and picked up a bit in the afternoon. The accommodation was basic but very clean and the whole staff and dive team very friendly and couldn't be more helpful all. In all we all had a great trip and will be definitely booking another trip back in the future.
