Island At A Glance
Minahasa Lagoon is an intimate, boutique resort offering a high standard of accommodation, set amid lush vegetation with stunning views out to the Bunaken Islands and within easy reach of wonderful diving.
Situated on Mangatasik Beach, just 30km south west of Manado, this resort is set in over 13 hectares and surrounded by lush tropical rainforest.
There are 15 spacious cottages, all situated by the water`s edge with a large bedroom, an adjoining room with bunk beds and a wooden verandah with an ocean view. There are also eight Garden View rooms with air conditioning and airy open bathrooms.
Facilities at the resort include a swimming pool, beach side hot tub and jacuzzi, two spas offering a wide selection of beauty treatments and massages and a full service photo and video centre.
The dive centre offers daily boats out to the further regions of the Bunaken National Park as well as numerous sites nearby.
Restaurants & Bars
There is a choice of areas to eat and drink while at the resort. The River Restaurant, located next to the pool, serves International and Asian cuisine, with a choice of fine Italian, French, Spanish and Australian wines, while The Jungle Restaurant, set in the treetops, specialises in local cuisine. By the pool is the Sea Front Bar, serving a range of hot and cold snacks, beers, wines and spirits.
There is a large infinity swimming pool, heated jacuzzi and lagoon spa with ocean views. The beach is for the use of resort guests only and has sun beds.
Other facilities include laundry service, baby sitting, and car rental. There is a separate lounge with a library and access to fax and the internet.
A wide range of land and sea day tours can be organized from the resort, including highland tours, volcano and Tangkoko Nature Reserve. In addition, four to six day tours can be made to Toraja villages, Yogyakarta and Kalimantan (orang utan reserve).
The diving is managed by Eco Divers Manado, a PADI 5 Star Gold Palm IDC Centre, offering courses from Bubblemaker and Discover Scuba to Rescue Diver and Divemaster as well as a selection of PADI specialty courses, including Nitrox diver. They limit the number of divers to just four per guide, ensuring a very personal service.
Eco divers operate three purpose built dive boats that provide a fast and comfortable transfer to the dive sites of Bunaken. There is a maximum of eight divers per boat with plenty of comfortable seating, a shaded saloon, a sun deck, heads and showers, fresh towels, snacks and unlimited tea and coffee.
The resort itself has a house reef close to the shore which is easily accessed and great for snorkellers and divers.
Much of the diving in the Bunaken area is wall diving on sheer vertical drop-offs, where there is a profusion of marine life, visibility is usually exceptionally good (25-30 metres) and the coral reefs are often pristine. The strong ocean currents that flow through the islands bring a remarkable diversity of life and make for thrilling drift diving.
