The WWII Wrecks of Coron
The waters of northern Palawan, around Coron Bay, are a wreck diver’s paradise steeped in World War II history. Around a dozen wrecks are regularly dived here, offering exciting penetration dives into the vast holds and engine rooms of ancient Japanese gun boats, sub-chasers and cargo vessels, sunk in September 1944 by the US Task Force.

Coron Bay is situated off Busuanga Island, in North Palawan, about an hour's flight from Manila. The Palawan Islands are known as the Philippines 'Last Frontier' and are characterised by incredible limestone rock formations, stunning beaches, secret coves and superb diving. Jaques Cousteau once described these islands as 'the most beautiful place I ever explored'.
