Introduction to Indonesia
Indonesia is the largest archipelago in the world, with more than 17,500 islands, and covers an area the size of Europe. As a result, the country offers an amazing diversity of flora and fauna, culture and geographical range. It is a country of impressive volcanoes, lush tropical rainforests, remote islands and friendly and colourful people.

Indonesia sits where the Indian Ocean meets the Pacific, and here the warm waters collide with cool upwellings from the southern seas to create an unparrallelled diversity of marine life. Indonesia has the highest fish and coral species count on the planet.

The diving in areas of Indonesia is among the best in the world. A photographers favourite, it is a marine world of colourful reefs, stunning macro life, huge schools of fish, pelagic species and the opportunity to see marine mammals. The underwater scenery can be dramatic with caverns and walls but equally, much of the best diving is 'muck diving' in the black sandy bays where you may discover species of marine life you never thought possible!
