On this amazing 21 day trip you will cruise and dive the whole length of the Maldives ... from top to bottom!  Divers can expect great diversity - both in the type of diving and the underwater life that they can expect to see.  The itinerary includes exhilarating channels, shallow reefs, wrecks, thilas and manta cleaning stations where divers sometimes just 'sit' and watch the action!  As well as mantas, we'll be seeking out everything from tiny reef fish to massive whalesharks!

Dave and Lisa, our Dive Guides on board MV Sea Spirit, have made thousands of dives in the Maldives and have drawn on their years of experience and knowledge in putting together this itinerary.  Below is the itinerary that is planned:-

Guests catch a domestic flight from Male to the Far North where they join MV Sea Spirit. The boat will then cruise south, meandering through many of the beautiful atolls and, of course, diving the best sites along the way!

The Northern atolls of Haa Alifu Atoll, Haa Daalhu Atoll and Shaviyani Atoll are the oldest atolls in the Maldivian archipelago.  This single chain of widely spaced islands brings a very different underwater topography with clear blue water, deeper lying small thilas packed with fish life, undercut ledges with excellent corals and beautiful white sand floors.  The sand floors attract shovel nose guitar fishes, the elusive bowmouth guitar fish and zebra sharks.  A few notable dives of Haa Alifu and Haa Daalhu are:

Thakan - a deep ridge festooned with soft coral providing excellent shark spotting opportunities.
Fssp - a shark cleaning station with huge schools of batfish, trevally and eagle rays.
Pink Canyon and Heaven & Hell - both have stunning soft corals for excellent wide angle photography.
Captain Pentalis – this wreck lies on a shallow reef and it is hard to imagine so much fish life on one wreck! Every day after 3pm pods of common dolphin are often seen passing by.
Magic Mushroom – a miraculous macro and night dive.
Island Hideaway – for its mantas!

One quest is the search for the giant tortoise said to live on a few small islands in Haa Daalhu!  We will then travel down through to Shaviyani Atoll and will look forward to the following dive sites amongst others:-

Moroshi Thila & Handi Thila - provide action packed dives with sharks, fish life and excellent corals.

An island visit to Moroshi where you can see the huge and legendary kani tree.

We take a turn into Raa Atoll and Noonu Atolls.  The islands and reef systems are closer together here and they are double chained, changing the underwater topography. We expect to see mantas on the north west side of Raa.

Alifushi & Ifaaru – these dive sites have shallower reefs and soft corals with spectacular drift diving.
Seven Kings - this dive site provides a stunning labyrinth full with fish life and pristine hard and soft corals.

We will then cruise to Noonu Atoll.

Long Ridge & Queens Rock - classic shark cleaning stations.
Christmas Tree Thila - an amazingly beautiful site – a big favourite.

Then will we travel sound to Lhaviyani Atoll which gives us another change in reef systems.

Kuredu Express & Fushi Kandu – both sites are exhilarating channel dives!
Kuredu Caves – with the friendliest green turtles in the Maldives.
Anemone Thila – an incredible and beautiful dive site.

Baa Atoll will be next with its exciting deep blue water drop off.

Ari Atoll will be next with its many superb thilas and reefs then on to Rasdhoo Atoll.  We will then cruise all the way down the west side diving the manta cleaning stations and taking in an unforgettable night dive with manta rays and a search for whalesharks.

Felidhoo Atoll brings all the best action packed channels and exciting shark night diving.
Miyaru Kandu -  one of the best channel dives.
Vattaru – a favourite manta dive.

Meemu Atoll has wonderful channels with sharks rays and soft corals.
Muli Kandu – this dive site often gives us sightings of bull sharks, marlin and bump head parrot fish.

We will then travel down to a Manta point in the south. A night snorkel encounter with whale sharks in Thaa Atoll:

Guraidhoo Corner – this sites gives us a chance to see schooling hammerheads.

Travelling on to Laamu Atoll where the hard corals reef are pristine and the giris are pretty, the channels full of action and a chance to encounter manta rays on the south tip.

An over night passages take us into Huvadhoo Atoll where we will cruise down the east side:

Vilingili, Nilandhoo & Maarehah – these sites offer big pelagic action with a chance for tiger shark, silky and oceanic blacktips.

Here we will be looking for memorable nights snorkelling with whalesharks.  We will also make a visit to the frigate bird island where the habitat is different to anywhere else in the Maldives. The crossing of the Equator into Fomulac Atoll provides blue water diving with a chance for thresher, tiger sharks, silvertips, mola mola and oceanic mantas … plus an island visit. We finish this amazing trip in Gan Atoll (Addu) with arguably the best manta point in the Maldives, the most incredible hard corals.

Kuda Kandu & Fen Muli – these sites give us some exciting drift dives.
British Loyalty – this wreck is a great night dive.

At the end of the trip guests will catch a domestic flight back to Male.
