Introduction to Meedhupparu Island Resort

Meedhupparu is the only resort island in the Northern Maldives distant Raa Atoll, offering exclusive access to dozens of uninhabited islands and remote dive sites. This is a lovely resort, just 265 metres long by 165 metres wide, fringed by stunning white beaches and palm trees and surrounded by a large translucent lagoon.

Accommodation

Beach Bungalows: The 215 semi-detached Beach Bungalows are all seaview rooms with their own terrace. They are fully airconditioned, with sitting area, tea/coffee machine, IDD telephone and personal safe. The en-suite bathroom has indoor and outdoor showers with hot and cold water, bath accessories and a hair dryer.

 

Water Villas: The exclusive water village is a resort in itself and features a fine dining restaurant, bar with walk in wine cellar, and a cigar bar. Guests can enjoy an aromatherapy massage in the comfort of their own villa. Accommodation is in 20 spacious and luxurious water villas built on stilts over the sparkling lagoon with a large sun-deck with day bed, jacuzzi, and steps leading directly into the clear, warm water. There is also have a DVD/CD player in the room and the bathroom's have both a bathtub and shower.

 

Restaurants & Bars

There are three restaurants on Meedhupparu and three bars, including a swim-up pool bar, and a coffee shop. The main restaurant serves a wide choice of dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner and all are served buffet style. The menu changes regularly to assure variety and there are fine wines and an assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available.

 

Set within the water village is the Fine Dine Restaurant, offering a wide range of gourmet European and fusion cuisine. The resort also has a Grill Bar, situated on the beach near the Dive Centre, serving drinks and light snacks. The Ayerverdic Centre also has a restaurant offering a fine menu of traditional South Asian and Western style health foods.

Excursions & Entertainment

Meedhupparu has many facilities to offer, which include two swimming pools, pool table and billiards, internet facilities, discotheque, and a shopping arcade. A wide range of sporting activities are on offer including windsurfing, water-skiing, catamaran sailing, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and aerobics.

 

Excursions include trips to local fishing islands, uninhabited island excursions and wonderful desert island BBQs, which are arranged regularly. Sunset Night Fishing trips are also available.

Spa: The resort has an excellent Ayurveda centre, offering massages and beauty treatments, herbal baths, Jacuzzis and steambaths, and there is a fully equipped air-conditioned gymnasium.

Diving

Meedhupparu has a very well run and fully equipped dive centre. A full range of diver training courses are offered and two boat dives are scheduled each day to some excellent and very remote dive sites, which include channels and walls.

 

Travel Information

If you are travelling through or from the UK we can arrange flights on either award winning Emirates Airlines or Sri Lankan Airlines at very competitive fares. Emirates have a flexible schedule of departures on most days of the week from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow via Dubai. Sri Lankan airlines offer direct flights from Heathrow on certain days of the week and flights via Colombo at other times. If you would like to arrange your own flights, we can quote you a rate for your island accommodation that excludes flights.
