Introduction to Komandoo Island Resort
Komandoo is a small, oval shaped island tucked away in a remote corner of Lhaviyani Atoll. It is 500m long and just 100m wide with beautiful sandbanks on both ends. It’s interior is rich and green and the island is surrounded by white sandy beaches and a beautiful turquoise lagoon. The resort offers a hint of luxury while casual dining with gourmet flair and the evenings’ entertainment is purposefully programmed to be low key, light and enjoyable. Komandoo is perfectly situated in a channel opening, which makes it a great island for keen divers. It has an excellent house reef as well as superb dive sites nearby that can be easily accessed by boat.

Accommodation
Beach Villas: The Beach Villas are spacious detached bungalows set along the beach line, beautifully constructed from Finnish Wood. Each villa has a large wooden terrace overlooking the beach with sun lounges. The deluxe bathroom is partly open-air, set within a private tropical garden, and is equipped with a walk-in hot and cold water shower, WC, twin wash basins with mirror, hairdryer and 230 DC shaver point.
Jacuzzi Beach Villas: These romantic villas, with views of the Indian Ocean, line the eastern beach a few steps from the beautiful lagoon. The Jacuzzi Beach Villas have a very spacious bedroom and private sitting area. They are exquisitely furnished inside and have a shaded wooden terrace over the beach with sun beds. Each Villa has a spacious secluded tropical garden with a wooden deck and a Jacuzzi. The deluxe bathroom with walk in hot and cold desalinated water shower is equipped with a circular glass shower cubicle, WC, twin wash basins with mirror, hairdryer and 230 DC shaver point.
Jacuzzi Water Villas: These exclusive villas are built on wooden stilts over the beautiful south lagoon. A large, partly roofed terrace and sundeck offers seclusion and stunning views over the lagoon and has private stairs leading down to the water. On the terrace there is a double sun lounger and a shaded daybed. The Villas have a very spacious bedroom and sitting area and are luxuriously furnished with solid teak furniture. Bathrooms have a walk-in shower and there is a Jacuzzi bath overlooking the turquoise lagoon.
Restaurants & Bars
Komandoo has two restaurants and one bar. The main restuarant, built in traditional Maldivian style with a palm-thatched roof, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet style. The food is varied and excellent and has a Mediterranean and International influence, combined with local cuisine. For special occasions the Executive Chef will arrange a private Romantic Candlelight dinner for two on the beach, under the moonlight and shining stars, or on your private terrace with a menu of your choice.
The Kandu Bar:. Situated by the main restaurant is the Kandu Bar, with a newly extended deck area and black marble back-drop, where guests can enjoy a wide selection of drinks and cocktails, fine wines and champagnes.
The Aqua Restaurant: Komandoo has a newly built A La Carte restaurant built on stilts above the water, adding a new dimension to the facilities on Komandoo. The Aqua Restaurant serves fine meals and adds variety in booking and dining options. Guests can now choose from a Bed and Breakfast option right up to the Gold All Inclusive option.
Excursions & Entertainment
Komandoo has many activities to offer. In front of the bar there is beach volleyball, while in the games room on the island there is table tennis and darts. Badminton is also available. The water sports centre offers catamaran sailing, windsurfing and canoes, and by the spa there is a gymnasium.
The Duniye Spa: Komandoo has a wonderful spa offering a wide range of Holistic treatments. Set within beautiful private gardens are treatment rooms with fully trained staff from Thailand, India and Bali offering a range of traditional massages to relax and soothe the body and there is also a jucuzzi and garden bath.
Diving
ProDivers Maldives manages the diving and snorkeling at Komandoo. The 5-Star PADI dive center is superbly run and their base leaders have many years of diving experience in and around Lhaviyani Atoll. They will guide you to some of the best diving around. Komandoo is in an excellent location within the atoll, with more than 10 channels and over 50 dive sites close by. These can take anywhere between 10 to 60 minutes to reach by boat and there is a great variation between the dive sites; from calm diving in shallow waters to deep dives, caves, walls and drift dives. Dive boats leave daily from the resort, twice a day, seven days a week and Full-Day exursions, early morning dives and night dives are scheduled on a regular basis.
Komandoo has an excellent house reef that is very easily accessed and this can be dived independently at any time, including night dives. Nitrox is available at no extra charge and snorkelling equipment, u/w cameras and accessories are available for hire. The dive centre has a well-equipped shop, an air-conditioned classroom for up to 10 students, and a full range of PADI courses are on offer.
Travel Information
If you are travelling through or from the UK we can arrange flights on either award winning Emirates Airlines or Sri Lankan Airlines at very competitive fares. Emirates have a flexible schedule of departures on most days of the week from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow via Dubai. Sri Lankan airlines offer direct flights from Heathrow on certain days of the week and flights via Colombo at other times. If you would like to arrange your own flights, we can quote you a rate for your island accommodation that excludes flights.
