Reethi Beach Resort nestles amidst lush vegetation and is shaded by graceful palm trees. The resort has been designed with local architecture which blends in with the natural beauty of the island and creates an eco-friendly ambiance. In the local language “reethi” means beautiful.

Reethi Beach is just 600 metres long and 300 metres wide, with a white sandy beach and crystal clear waters. Only 15 percent of the land area has been built upon, making this a very natural resort island. Reethi is surrounded by uninhabited islands and, as they are exclusively held by Reethi Beach Resort, they may be explored by guests. Many fantastic dive sites are easily accessible by the dive boats and there is a house reef along one half of the island. Baa Atoll has some superb diving, including the now famous Hanifaru Lagoon, where large numbers of manta rays and whalesharks can be seen during the southwest monsoon.

Excursions & Entertainment

Reethi Beach offers a variety of private and group excursions in the beautiful Baa Atoll. Full day excursions take guests to a local island, picnic on a deserted island and visit a resort island. Half day excursions include a visit to the capital island of Baa Atoll and a visit to the fishing island of Dhonfan. Evening trips are made to admire the sunset on a sandbank or enjoy a moonlight barbecue on an uninhabited island. Land sports available on the island include two outdoor floodlit artificial grass tennis courts, two indoor badminton courts, a squash court, gymnasium, two table tennis tables and a small fresh water swimming pool. The water sports centre H2O World is managed by Sasha’s Water World and offers catamaran sailing and windsurfing, kite surfing, canoes, water skiing, banana boat and fun tube riding. There is an excellent rental service for equipment and some courses are available. In addition there are speedboat excursions, traditional dhoni sailing and glass bottom boat trips. The Coconut Spa is located on the beach front and has five air conditioned rooms two double and three single rooms. There is also a free standing detached massage room as well as a steam room and a jacuzzi located next to the relaxation area of the spa. Manicures, pedicures and hairdressing are also available.

Diving

The diving from Reethi Beach is run by Sea Explorers. This PADI 5 Star Gold Palm Resort Centre, with highly qualified and professional staff, offers a wide range of courses from beginners to advanced divers. The islands beautiful house reef is accessed via four entry points, marked by 4 buoys, and can be explored from early morning until late in the evening. The dive school also offers a tank delivery service to make your house reef dives relaxed and hassle free. On the east side is the vast sand lagoon, where there are many coral blocks which are home to lobsters, crabs, shrimps, octopus and moray eels, with stingrays and guitar sharks also being regular visitors. The west side of the reef lies on a channel and stretches out along the whole length of the island. Regular passing dolphins, eagle rays and barracuda as well as huge schools of batfish, mackerel and fusiliers are often seen. During the north-east monsoon visits from manta rays and whalesharks are not uncommon! Baa Atoll, with its warm crystal clear waters, rich coral gardens and colourful reef fish make the atoll one of the best for diving in Maldives. From June to November, during the southwest monsoon, manta rays visit the area while during August and September the chances for whaleshark encounters are greatly increased. During December through to May, the northeast monsoon, the water is clearer with fantastic visibility, sharks are commonly seen and the colours of the soft corals are truly breathtaking. The world famous Hanifaru Lagoon can also be reached from Reethi Beach. Hanifaru is renowned for congregations of manta rays and whalesharks feeding on plankton during the south-west monsoon. The Maldivian government has recently introduced protective restrictions that only allow snorkelling in the bay. This is to minimise the potentially negative impact on the manta rays and whalesharks that visit the lagoon.
