This beautiful island with its tropical vegetation is surrounded by a superb white sandy beach and a crystal clear lagoon. The island is situated in South Male Atoll, which has some stunning dive sites easily reached by Olhuveli’s well-established dive centre.

Olhuveli is a modern resort, ideal for those seeking an active family holiday or wanting a quiet break in romantic surroundings. In addition to the high standard of accommodation, Olhuveli offers a wide choice of restaurants and bars together with an excellent range of water and land based activities. The diving around Olhuveli is excellent, with manta rays frequently sighted on several of the dive sites within easy reach of the resort. During August and September, whalesharks are frequently seen feeding on the plankton that proliferates in the area at this time of the year.

Deluxe Room

The Deluxe Rooms are in stylish blocks of four facing the sea and each room has a terrace or balcony overlooking the beach and the lagoon. All rooms are comfortably furnished and equipped with ceiling fan, air conditioning, mini bar, IDD telephone, safe, satellite television, four poster bed, sitting area and a writing desk. The en suite bathrooms are spacious and include hot/cold water, hair dryer and toiletries.

Deluxe Water Villa

The Deluxe Water Villas offer superb accommodation with air conditioning, ceiling fan, room safe, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities, spacious sitting area with custom made teak furniture, four-poster king size bed, IDD telephone, writing desk, satellite television and CD player. The en suite bathrooms have a bathtub, bidet, hair dryer and hot/cold water. The villas have an extended deck overlooking the lagoon with sun loungers for private sunbathing, and a swim-up platform, which provides direct access to the lagoon via private stairs. .

Beach Villa

The Beach Villas are equipped with ceiling fan, air conditioning, personal safe, mini-bar, IDD telephone, satellite TV, a king size bed, sitting area, writing desk and separate dressing area with full length mirror. The luxurious garden bathroom features double washbasins, an enclosed rain shower, an open air shower and bath, hot/cold water and hair dryer. Double glass panelled doors lead out to a large private verandah with a daybed overlooking the beautiful beach.

Jacuzzi Water Villa

There are thirty two Jacuzzi Water Villas and these offer the same facilities as the Deluxe Water Villas with the addition of a beautiful jacuzzi situated on the large and private sundeck, which extends over the clear lagoon. Built on stilts over the turquoise waters of the lagoon, Jacuzzi Water Villas are beautifully furnished.

Honeymoon Water Villa

The exclusive Honeymoon Villas have all the facilities of the other rooms on the resort with the addition of a jacuzzi or steam bath on the spacious exterior deck. There is a separate living area with a comfortable daybed, flat screen TV and DVD player.

Presidential Water Suite

There are just two of these exclusive suites, offering luxury for those seeking a high standard of accommodation. Situated past the Water Villas at the far end of the walkway, the suites enjoy complete privacy and a fantastic view from the glass walled living room. The suites are fitted with the finest furnishing, combining modern design with traditional Maldivian architecture. Each suite comprises two bedrooms with king size four poster beds, a luxury en suite bathroom and a small kitchen. Outside on the two-level timber deck is a private plunge pool, open air jacuzzi and sun loungers. A staircase from the second level leads into the lagoon below.

Restaurants

One of the highlights of a stay at Olhuveli is the outstanding cuisine, which is based on local, freshly caught seafood. The Sunset Restaurant, built entirely over the water, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a variety of Asian, local and international cusine. The Lagoon Restaurant offers fine dining with international cuisine, while The Four Spices, also built over the water, offers authentic Asian fusion. Situated next to the Sunrise Bar, the Island Pizza offers a selection of sandwiches and burgers as well as excellent pizzas that are perfect for a light lunch or snack in between meals. There are three bars; The Lagoon Bar is a perfect location from which to admire the beautiful sunsets. There is a good selection of fine wines and drinks and the bar is open until the early hours. The Dhoni Bar, built around the infinity edge pool, is a quiet area serving fresh juices, drinks and light snacks. The Sunrise Bar, an extension of the main swimming pool, is a lively bar which remains open all day and well into the evening, serving a selection of fresh juices, drinks and a light menu. Private lunch and dining experiences can be aranged on the beach under the stars, at the poolside or in the privacy of your villa.

Excursions & Entertainment

The large lagoon provides a safe environment for a variety of water based activities. Guests can enjoy kite surfing, wake boarding, water skiing, catamaran sailing and canoeing. There are two large fresh water infinity swimming pools. Land sports available on the resort include flood-lit tennis, volleyball, badminton, gymnasium, table tennis, billiards and a selection of board games. A full range of excursions and activities are offered, including big game fishing, dolphin safari, sunset cruise and a variety of day trips. The Sun Spa has six deluxe treatment pavillions with open showers, garden, luxurious spa bath and individually selected spa music. In addition there is a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, Turkish bath and chilled plunge pools. Younger guests are well catered for at Olhuveli with a children's swimming pool, play area and a specially created activities programme giving parents the chance to relax. Baby cots, high chairs, babysitting and child minding services are all available. Evenings can be as lively or as relaxed as you wish. Entertainment includes a discotheque, cultural shows, live bands and a private karaoke room.

Diving

The Sun International Diving School is located at the end of the jetty and is a PADI five-star facility offering courses from beginner to Assistant Instructor. The islands house reef is easily accessed via the jetty located by the diving school. There is plenty of fish life from leaf fish and butterfly fish to eagle rays, turtles and the occasional passing manta. The North side of the reef is more steep with large table corals, humpback snappers, batfish and schools of tuna and barracudas. During the north east monsoon from December until May mantas come at night to the jetty to feed on the plankton that is attracted by the light. In August and September whalesharks have also been seen feeding on the rich plankton around the resort. For experienced divers there is the opportunity to dive with a buddy at any time day or night on the house reef. There are also two boat dives offered daily in the morning and afternoon, together with full day trips. The dive sites around Olhuveli offer a wide variety of marine life. Large tuna, sharks, eagle rays, stingrays tuna and mantas can all be seen at different locations, while on the easier reefs inside the atoll, stunning coral formations and many different types of reef fish and macro life can be found.

Travel Information

If you are travelling through or from the UK we can arrange flights on a choice of airlines at very competitive fares. Emirates have a flexible schedule of daily departures from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow via Dubai. Sri Lankan airlines offer flights from Heathrow via Colombo. British Airways offer a non-stop service 3 times a week between December and March from Gatwick. Etihad Airways operate flights from Heathrow and Manchester via Abu Dhabi. With such flexibility in air travel you can choose to stay on your selected island for any number of days you would like. 

If you would like to arrange your own flights, we can quote you a rate for your island accommodation that excludes flights.

On arrival at the airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to the resort.

Special Offers

Honeymoon Couples staying a minimum of five nights will receive a fruit basket and one candle lit dinner per couple per stay and a special turndown service with bed decoration on their arrival night.
