Restaurants

Eriyadu has a restaurant by the water’s edge offering a broad selection of local and international cuisine. Throughout the week there are themed nights when a range of international dishes are served either as a buffet or from a la carte menus. There is always an excellent selection of freshly caught seafood, sizzling meats and vegetarian dishes to choose from. On special nights the chefs will serve a barbecue on the beach. The island also has a coffee shop and bar by the newly built swimming pool, where light snacks and a wide selection of drinks are served during the day. Next to the coffee shop and restaurant there is the main bar which serves cocktails and a range of alcoholic and soft drinks.

Excursions & Entertainment

Tucked away in the north west corner of North Male Atoll, Eriyadu has access to many islands and offers frequent island-hopping excursions. There are trips to the uninhabited island of Olhahali, where you can enjoy a barbecue lunch on a remote beach and a walk among the island’s rich vegetation. The trip is combined with a visit to the local fishing island of Gaafaru, where you can experience the traditional Maldivian way of life and buy local souvenirs. The resort islands of Reethi Rah, Summer Island and Helengeli are not too far away and day trips can also be made to these islands, as well as visits to the bustling capital island of Male. On Saturdays, there is the Sunset Cocktail Cruise, where you can sail around the island in the warm glow of the setting sun, sipping exotic local and international cocktails. Eriyadu has many sporting facilities to offer. The water sports centre has catamaran sailing and waterskiing. On the island there is volleyball, a gymnasium, badminton court, games room with table tennis and snooker, and a lovely swimming pool. Early morning Deep Sea Fishing and Night Fishing trips are available on any day. Half day snorkelling safaris to other reefs are available on Sunday mornings.

Diving

Eriyadu has a great house reef that is easily accessible 24 hours a day from five entry points, with the majority of the reef gently sloping to 30 metres. This makes the island an excellent choice for divers and snorkellers. The Dive Center is run by Euro-Divers who offer a full range of PADI and CMAS courses, including speciality courses. The dive centre runs a tank shuttle service to drop off and collect tanks for guests wishing to make independent dives, and night dives can be made every night at any time. There are over 35 boat dives within one hour of the resort, including Finger Point, Akiri Channel and Boduhiti Thila. Finger Point is a famous shark dive in the Maldives where up to 50 grey reef sharks have been seen on a single dive. Divers have also often seen silver tip and hammerhead sharks. Akiri Channel is a thrilling drift dive through a channel where there are several deeper overhangs (20-30m) with lots of black coral bushes and soft corals, together with Napoleon wrasse, schools of barracudas, stingrays, whitetip reef sharks, moray eels, scorpion fish, lion fish and thousands of fusiliers. During the north east monsoon there is a good chance to encounter mantas and even whalesharks. Also dolphins are also often spotted here. Boduhiti Thila, located on the western side of the atoll, is one of most famous spots in the Maldives for mantas and with a little luck whalesharks during north east monsoon. The northern end of North Male atoll is quiet, with very few resorts diving on the sites. During the south west monsoon (June to October) you benefit from wonderfully clear visibility and during the north east monsoon (December to April) both whalesharks and manta rays are often encountered on dives sites accessible from the resort.
