A classic “no news-no shoes” Maldivian Island, Angaga is small, densely vegetated with coconut trees, and has stunning beaches - truly a tranquil paradise.

Located in central South Ari Atoll, Angaga is a natural delight with a beautiful sandy lagoon. The emphasis is on relaxation and diving, making this the perfect island to experience a “get away from it all” holiday. The beaches are some of the best that the Maldives has to offer and the house reef, which is rich in fish life and soft corals, is just eight metres from shore and drops to 35 metres, offering unlimited diving for experienced divers. The resort also has access to fantasic dive sites on both the eastern and western side of the atoll, making it a perfect diving resort all year round. During the North East monsoon, manta rays can often be seen on Madivaru point, which is a dive site renowned for consistently attracting large numbers of these beautiful animals. Angaga represents excellent value for money, offering a good standard of accommodation, superb facilities and is the beautiful, unspoiled tropical paradise that so many people look for.

Your Accommodation Options

Beach Bungalow

There are 50 detached Superior Rooms which are Maldivian thatched stye. All rooms are air-conditioned and have mini fridge, satellite television, hair dryer, tea/coffee making facilities and telephone. Bathrooms are private open-air style with hot/cold water shower and bathrobes are provided. Outside there is a veranda with local style swing-seat and chairs.

Water Bungalow

There are 20 detached Water Bungalows located in the shallow turquoise lagoon on the western side of the island. The rooms have the same facilities as the Beach Bungalows with the addition of a bath tub in the bathroom as well as a shower. Outside there is access to a private sun deck with sun beds and direct access to the lagoon.

Restaurants

A small coffee shop serves snacks and drinks throughout the day and a beautiful thatched, sandy floored restaurant serves delicious meals buffet-style while you enjoy stunning views over the ocean. Evenings are a particular delight with candle lit tables and a warm Maldivian breeze. After dinner, you may head to the Sun Down Bar where you will find the perfect place to relax and enjoy a sunset cocktail.

Excursions & Entertainment

Angaga has excellent facilities and there is a range of activities on offer, including volleyball, floodlit tennis, badminton courts and table tennis. There is a well equipped watersports centre offering windsurfing, kitesurfing, catamaran sailing and waterskiing. Excursions include full or half day island shopping trips by Dhoni, snorkelling trips and evening fishing. The resort also offers occasional live bands and a disco. In the centre of the island is the excellent Coconut Spa offering a range of Balinese massages and beauty treatments. The spa has two single treatment rooms and one couple room, complete with an exterior bathtub for soothing aromatherapy floral baths. The spa also sells a range of beauty products.

Diving

Angaga offers fantastic boat and house reef diving. The house reef has four entry points and surrounds two thirds of the island, gradually dropping to a depth of approximately 35 metres. The Dive centre is owned and operated by Sub Aqua who are extremely experienced in the Maldives, owning a number of dive bases. Sub Aqua offers a full range of PADI courses from introductory dives through to Divemaster. Angaga’s location is perfectly situated to dive some of the best sites on the east, west and south sides of South Ari atoll. You will be spoilt for choice with over 40 dive sites within reach. This is the perfect place to experience diving with manta rays and, if you are lucky, a whaleshark! Dive sites such as Madivaru and Kuda Rah Thila are within easy distance of Angaga. Madivaru is a superb manta cleaning station and in the North East Monsoon season attracts many manta rays, who feed on the plankton-rich waters that usually flow out of the atoll along with the currents. Kuda Rah Thila has two large overhangs located on the eastern side of the thila, which are packed full with yellow daisy corals and huge gorgonian fans. Grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, rainbow runners, great barracudas, bluefin jacks, tuna, batfish, napoleon wrasse and turtles can all be frequently seen at Kuda Rah.
