Truk Stop Resort
Truk Stop Hotel is a family run hotel close to the town centre of Weno. It has 23 rooms, some with a view of the ocean and all are air conditioned and have private bathrooms and balconies.
Truk Stop Hotel is just a short walk into the centre of Weno and less than a mile from the international airport. There are fifteen large islands in Truk Lagoon with Weno being the largest and also the capital island of the Federated States of Micronesia.
The hotel is an ideal base for your wreck diving adventure, if you are looking for simple, good value accommodation. The Truk Lagoon Diver Centre, which operates from the hotel, offers good technical diving facilities with two dive boats offering up to four dives a day. Nitrox and decompression gas mixing as well as a comprehensive scuba equipment repair service is available.
In the Truk Stop Hard Wreck Cafe there is a reading room, 40 inch TV and DVD player where guests can review their diving footage and still photographs.
Standard Rooms are air conditioned and have two wide twin beds and a balcony overlooking the lagoon. There is a ceiling fan, cable TV and DVD player, telephone and a refrigerator with fresh drinking water.
These rooms have a large double bed and, as all rooms in the hotel, are air conditioned with private bathroom. There is a TV with DVD player, ceiling fan, telephone and refrigerator with fresh drinking water.
The private balcony overlooking the water has table and chairs.
The Executive Suites, of which there are two, have a large double bed and french doors leading to a balcony overlooking the water. They have air conditioning and ceiling fans, private bathroom, TV with DVD player, telephone, and refrigerator with fresh drinking water.
The Truk Stop Restaurant offers a large selection of dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Freshly caught seafood features regularly on the daily menu as well as Micronesian and Asian specialities.
Cocktails and a range of alcoholic and soft drinks are served in the outdoor Patio Bar and in the Hard Wreck Cafe, where there are comfortable seating areas, a TV and a pool table, snacks and drinks are available.
Facilities at the hotel include a gift shop, free wi-fi in the restaurant and adjoining lobby and there is a small spa offering massages, manicures and pedicures.
Cars are available to rent if you wish to explore the island by yourself, or you can take one of many guided land tour options to visit such places as the old Japanese communications centre, the heavily battle-scarred Sapuk Lighthouse, or to see the impressive Tonata Guns and Caves.
Island excursions are also available and guests choosing not to dive can enjoy snorkelling and kayaking from the private dock.
Truk Lagoon Dive Center has been operating at Truk Stop Hotel since 2001 and is managed by two expatriate instructors (PADI/TDI) with certified local dive guides and boat drivers. They can accommodate all types of diver from beginner Open Water and recreational diver wanting Nitrox to technical divers requiring trimix and rebreather support.
Fast 10 metre covered dive boats with twin 90hp engines, hang tanks, hang bars, emergency oxygen, first aid kits and fresh drinking water depart the dock every morning for two tank or single dives. Afternoon two tank and single dives are also offered, along with night dives, shark dives and, when weather conditions allow, dives on the outreef where silvertip sharks are usually seen.
The most common routing to Truk Lagoon is via Manila. If you are travelling through or from the UK we can arrange flights to Manila on either award winning Emirates, Cathay Pacific, Singapore or Malaysian Airlines - we are very pleased to be able to offer our clients 30kgs luggage allowance for dive equipment with each of these carriers.
From Manila your onward flight to Truk Lagoon will be on United Airlines via a transit through Guam. On arrival into Truk you will be met at the airport by a representative from the hotel and transferred to the Truk Blue Lagoon Resort, just a 30 minute drive from the airport.
Your flight to Truk Lagoon will transit through Guam, which is one of the main hubs for United Airlines flights operating throughout Micronesia. It is therefore very easy to combine your stay in Truk Lagoon with either a stay at Yap or Palau and combination holidays come highly recommended.
