Odyssey
Right Column
The Odyssey is a superbly equipped, 132' steel hull vessel that takes just 16 divers in either twin/double share cabins or in one of 2 single cabins. All cabins are spacious with air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. The Odyssey is a superb choice for those looking for a higher standard of accommodation and service in Truk Lagoon while offering superb diving services.
The Odyssey runs 7nt trips with up to 5 dives per day. Generally, dives are made directly from the Odyssey's large dive deck at the rear of the liveaboard. During the safari the liveaboard will move it's anchorage to position itself over the many impressive wrecks that are scatttered aroud the seabed in the waters of Truk Lagoon.
Special Departures

Originally built in 1978, the Odyssey began her life as a small cruise ship in Fiji, accommodating up to 40 guests. Two decades later she was bought by her current owners and was completely transformed in 1999. The 20 cabins she once had were stripped out and replaced with 9 modern and spacious staterooms to accommodate just 16 divers in comfort.
At 40m in length, there is ample space on board to relax and to prepare your dive equipment and cameras. There is a large, air conditioned dining area and bar with large tinted windows for guests to enjoy the scenic views and tropical sunsets. A separate entertainment lounge has a TV, VCR and DVD player, as well as a library and small bar.
To the rear of the lounge there is a spacious outdoor sundeck with tables, chairs and sun loungers and a partially shaded section to escape the rays of the tropical sunshine. This is the area where dive briefings are given.

The Odyssey has a very spacious dive platform at the rear of the boat. Each diver is assigned a private seat and personal locker and facilities include two gear rinse tanks and two camera tanks, as well as a three tiered camera table to prepare equipment. There is also a freswater shower to rinse yourself off after dives and warm deck towels are provided.
The majority of diving is done directly from the dive platform, with the Odyssey moored over the wreck, while other dive sites are reached by one of two aluminium tenders.
There are 11ltr aluminium tanks, with both DIN and yoke valves, and steel 15ltr tanks. Nitrox is available for certified divers and there are twin-tank set ups for technical divers. A fixed deco bar hangs below the boat on all dives for deco stops.
Up to five dives per day are offered during each 7 night trip.
The Odyssey runs 7nt itineraries from Sunday to Sunday, with boarding time starting from 5pm. Crew members will collect you either directly from the airport, or from one of the resort hotels in Truk if you are staying there beforehand. Six days diving up to 5 dives per day are offered and all areas are covered with each cruise.
Prices below exclude 5% VAT/Service Tax. For divers wishing to do two trips back to back there is a 20% discount on the second trip. Non divers travelling with a diver will receive a 10% discount.

South Africa - June 2012
"Great Whites ... "awesome". Aliwal shoal ... "excellent"."
We were lucky enough to do the Sardine Run trip in June/July this year and it was an amazing trip shared with fantastic friends! The cage diving with the Great Whites in Gansbaai was “awesome” with some really close up and personal encounters, Aliwal Shoal was excellent with so many beautiful oceanic black tips and the main event was spectacular when the excitement started happening with the gannets, sharks, dolphins all in on the act! So many encounters with whales was something we hadn’t expected and it was amazing that they got so close to the boat and we were lucky enough to snorkel with 3 huge humpbacks – very privileged! The trip was really well organised and accommodation in all places was great, the Sardine Run needs patience as many hours were spent waiting and chasing across big seas but so worth it and we will definitely be doing the trip again! The hospitality and diversity, excellent food, local agents, well organised, good standard of accommodation and those little extras like skydiving made it an unforgettable adventure!
